Research indicates that quality early-learning experiences lay the foundation for future academic success. Our needs survey indicates that approximately 40% of children entering kindergarten were not enrolled in a pre-kindergarten program. In our Reading Intervention program, we target those students whose classroom performance indicates that supplemental small group instruction would provide them with the tools necessary to be more successful in the classroom. Students receive 30-45 minutes of one on one or small group instruction from a highly qualified teacher. This teacher works closely with the regular Kindergarten teachers and builds his/her lessons around the skills being taught in the classroom or those skills most needed by the students.
Students in the Reading Intervention Program are assessed periodically and the students served are adjusted as needed to provide the best services to the most students.
